Choosing a putty – an overview of products from leading manufacturers

Recommendation points

How to understand the abundance of ready-made and dry putty mixtures? After all, each manufacturer positions its product as the highest quality. In this article, we tried to systematize the data on the most popular brands and help the reader in choosing a putty just for their needs and for their wallet..

Choosing a putty. Overview of products from leading manufacturers

The market for modern building materials is literally packed with various types of dry and ready-made building mixtures. And the Internet is simply full of monotonous and often inaccurate, advertising-related information about the quality of these products. Against this background, it can be quite difficult for a developer to figure out and choose an ordinary putty for himself. Let’s try to take a closer look at the products of some of the best-selling manufacturers.

The products of this concern, like a cheap panacea for all construction problems, flooded the markets of domestic construction stores. After sand and clay, dry plaster mixes of this company seemed to many to be the pinnacle of quality.

In fact, there is not so little truth in these words. “Knauf” offers high-quality products and technologies developed by them for its application. And it is not the manufacturer’s fault that his recommendations are read through a line, and they are translated rather unreliable.

As for the putties, the brand exhibits several of its types at once..

Enrolled in putties. On what grounds, however, it is not entirely clear. Classic adhesive repair mix. It was originally developed for sealing joints between plasterboard sheets. Later they began to use it for gluing gypsum boards on walls (since the curing time of “Fugen” is longer than that of the same “Perlfix”). To putty the walls with this mixture is a pleasure, to put it mildly, something else. And there is no need to do this. For the putty, the manufacturer has better and more suitable recipes.

  • Packing: 25 kg

Knauf-Fugen GV

Also, an adhesive repair mixture having a fibrous structure, it is only intended for sealing gypsum fiber board joints. Again, it is not very suitable for putty.

  • Price: 399 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

All the same “Fugen”, only for moisture-resistant drywall, with all the ensuing consequences. True, the thickness of the applied layer was increased by the manufacturer from 3 to 5 mm.

The plasticity is slightly higher than that of the classic “Fugenfüller”, but still there are few people who want to putty with such a mixture.

  • Price: 1066 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

And again the glue. High-quality, high-strength, practically non-shrinking. Replaces any kind of “Fugena”, and also surpasses it in technical performance. But again, this is more a repair mixture than a putty in its pure form..

  • Price RUB 1197.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Solid putty. The manufacturer claims a reduced consumption of up to 20%, as well as the life time of the boiled-up mixture up to an hour and a half. In fact, these figures are somewhat exaggerated, but there is still a good grain. In fact, you need to count on an hour of time, but this is more than enough so that the solution does not go to waste.

  • Price: 360 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

KNAUF-Multi-Finish (plaster)

Also a good putty for the money. What is the fundamental difference between this mixture and “Rotband-Finish” I was never told in the support service “Knauf”. In practice, “Multifinish” is easier to grind.

  • Price: 366 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

KNAUF-Multi-Finish M

Quite a good mix for machine putty. However, no one will forbid her to putty with an ordinary spatula. Moreover, the price for it is only slightly more than for the usual “Multifinish”.

  • Price: 391 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Plain solid finishing putty. One of the first, which was seen by the then not spoiled Russian developer. Today, most of the more modern materials outperform this mix, but habit is a great thing. The builders are conservative people, they don’t look for good from good, and therefore continue to use this mixture by inertia.

  • Price 241 rubles.
  • Packing: 25 kg

KNAUF Multi-finish paste

The answer is “Knauf”, various “sheetrocks”. Plastic, soft and ready-to-use mixture. At first glance, it differs from the same “Shitrok” in a more acceptable price, but this is not entirely true.

  • Price: 650 rub.
  • Packing: 20 kg

KNAUF Multi-finish paste

KNAUF Rotband-Pasta

For an inexperienced buyer, it is not much different from a similar paste “Multi-finish”. Well, except that the price turned out to be 60 rubles. higher.

  • Price: 710 rub.
  • Packing: 20 kg

KNAUF Multi-finish (cement)

They did not forget about cement mixtures. Cement-based plaster mix bears the same name as gypsum. So you need to be careful when buying. Unlike gypsum compositions, the cement recipe, to put it mildly, did not take root. Although in vain, quite a decent putty for the money. Plasticity, of course, is not the same as that of gypsum, but there’s nothing you can do about it – cement is cement.

  • Price: 438 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Henkel Bautechnik

An excellent manufacturer of dry and ready-made building mixtures. Ceresit, Thomsit and Econ are all brands of this concern. True, when not conscientious Germans began to produce these same brands, but our compatriots, simply using foreign technologies, the quality dropped somewhat, but still remained at a height unattainable for domestic companies..

The choice of putties from Henkel Bautechnik is not as extensive as that of Knauf, and is limited to some Ceresit products. But then, when choosing a product, stupid questions do not arise: how does one mixture differ from another and why you need to choose exactly one and not the other. Everything is strictly to the point. There is a task – there is a mixture to complete it.

Ceresit CT 127

What I’ve always liked about Ceresite is the order. No big names. A digital product code that cannot be confused with anything. ST 127 is a polymer putty for work in dry rooms. The quality can compete with the same “Vetonit”. But it has a more attractive cost. Average plasticity, rubbing tolerably. But the quality of the finished wall is simply excellent..

  • Price: 560 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Ceresit CT 127

Ceresit CT 225

Facade putty is made on the basis of cement. In general, it seems to me that the mixtures with cement are especially good for Ceresit. The advantages of the mixture include reinforcing additives. To the disadvantages – so that these additives do not settle and are distributed evenly, the mixture must be constantly stirred.

  • Price: 594 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Ceresit CT 95

Similar to “Shitrok” for outdoor work. It costs, to put it mildly, not cheap, and therefore it is used for its intended purpose rather rarely. The builders have a good reputation as a repair and defect mixture. Somewhere to fix, somewhere to cover up a crack. It is too expensive to use CT 95 in large volumes.

  • Price: 890 rub.
  • Packing: 17 kg

The quality standard among modern putties on the Russian market. The price for the products of this brand is not very pleasant, but the quality is beyond praise. A distinctive feature of all Vetonite putties is their increased plasticity and an enormous lifetime. And this makes the work very comfortable. The following putty mixtures are provided at the buyer’s choice.

Weber.Vetonit VH

Cement based putty designed for indoor and outdoor use. Especially loved by craftsmen for decorating walls and ceilings in bathrooms. Ideally used on a plaster cake made of Vetonit TT. Why not, if finances allow.

There are two types of putty: gray and white. The enterprising craftsmen immediately dubbed the gray one “Leveling”, and the white one “Finishing”. (Likewise, Knauf has a “ceiling” drywall). Among the disadvantages of the putty, one can single out a large consumption of the mixture per one millimeter of the layer – about 1.2 kg per square meter.

  • Price: 521 rub. gray, 868 rub. white
  • Packing: 25 kg

Weber.Vetonit KR

Excellent filler based on organic glue. This means that the product is 100% natural. In fact, not so important, but if you have a fad about natural products, you can use it. Until completely dry it spreads a not very pleasant soapy “aroma”. After drying, the smell disappears.

  • Price: 634 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Weber.Vetonit KR

Weber.Vetonit LR+

Inorganic polymer based putty. It differs from Weber.Vetonit KR only in the smell. Allows you to get a surface completely ready for painting.

There are many negative reviews on the net. They complain that if it becomes necessary to re-glue the wallpaper, the latter lag behind right with the Vetonitovka putty. If we neglect the construction technology and do not prime the plastered surface, the result described above is quite possible. But the quality of the product has nothing to do with it..

  • Price: 692 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Weber.Vetonit LR +

Weber.Vetonit LR Fine

A very white and very delicate putty. Positioned as the finish line. Although Weber.Vetonit LR +, for which it is intended to cover, can not be called the starting one either. For those who love 4-6 layer putty cakes – the very thing.

  • Price: 728 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Weber.Vetonit JS

Analogue of “Fugena” from “Vetonit”. But you can work with it longer and it is softer in use. If desired, such a repair mixture can really be putty, and even over paint.

  • Price: 896 rub.
  • Packing: 20 kg

Weber.Vetonit LR Pasta

Well, Vetonit could not stand aside and not release its analogue of Shitrok. It turned out pretty well. Neither worse nor better, just not Shitrok, but Vetonit. Excellent for surface troubleshooting before painting. You can use it as the main putty, but is it rational??

  • Price: 700 rub.
  • Packing: 20 kg

A Polish brand that has firmly established itself in the post-Soviet building materials market.

Produces dry and ready-made putty mixtures. The quality is good, but Vetonit does not reach the same quality. Many craftsmen, accustomed to working with Stabil, simply do not recognize other putty mixtures. It is upsetting that there is no Russian-language support on the official website of the manufacturer. But even Polish fluent Poles will have little to learn from the resource.

Stabill PG 41

It was this product that made the company a name. It is understandable, the putty turned out to be of high quality. It mixes well, in operation after production it does not lose its properties for two hours (for “Vetonit” a couple of days), it is relatively easy to rub over. The resulting surface is ready for painting. And yet it seems that the price for this mixture is somewhat overpriced. In work, it most of all resembles Ceresit CT 127, the cost of which is somewhat more modest, but this is only at first glance.

  • Price: 638 rub.
  • Packing: 25 kg

Stabill PSZ 11

Universal putty mixture. Similarity of “Rodband-Finish” Polish bottling.

Allows you to create a layer up to 3 cm, while getting a surface ready for wallpapering.

  • Price: 364 rub.
  • Packing 20 kg

Stabill PG-007

Ready mix in buckets. Excellent quality, which, in fact, is not surprising for such products. Packing of 17 kg, with a consumption of 1.5 kg per millimeter layer per square meter.

The work is not much different from the same Vetonit or Knauf paste.

  • Price: 840 rub.
  • Packing: 17 kg

Famous American brand. The quality of the finished Shitrok putties has become a proverb. Today this product manufactured not only overseas, but also in Russia. In particular, there are production facilities in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, the products made in our country cannot be compared with their foreign counterparts. Although for anyone who has not used made in USA putty, our Russian one will seem just the height of plasticity and perfection.

Choosing a putty. Overview of products from leading manufacturers

Today, many try to perform putty work only with paste (it is pleasant and comfortable to work), to the extent that they apply it 3-4 millimeters directly onto the plaster cake. This approach is extremely irrational..

First, do not forget – Shitrok is a thin-layer putty mixture. And secondly, no one, of course, will prohibit using it to tighten the entire wall or ceiling canvas, but still it is cheaper to use this product only for defecting individual sections of the plane before painting.

Sheetrock superfinish

The main and most common product of an American manufacturer. A seventeen-liter container holds 28 kg of the finished mixture, so do not be too afraid of the declared 1.4 kg / m2 consumption. The mixture is multifunctional. It can be used to seal up the seams, and pull a thin layer along the cobweb. In general, high quality and super pleasant to use paste.

  • Price: 1149 rub.
  • Packing: 28 kg

Sheetrock superfinish

Sheetrock Fill & Finish Light

The same super finish, but 35% lighter and, as a result, 10 rubles. more expensive for each liter. Oddly enough it sounds, but a lot of clients responded to this advertising move. True, it is not clear how an already thin millimeter layer can make the structure heavier, but if finances allow, then why not.

  • Price: 779 rub.
  • Packing: 10 l

Sheetrock ProSpray

Ready putty for machine application. Fast but expensive. The only, but not insignificant advantage is that it is not afraid of freezing. Frozen – thawed, and you can work on. The main thing is not to artificially heat.

  • Price: 1050 rub.
  • Packing: 17 l

Sheetrock Dust Control

Another improvement from Shitrok. Lightweight putty with reduced dust formation when sanding. Again it turned out to be a little more expensive than Sheetrock Fill&Finish Light. Some 30 rubles per liter.

  • Price: 349 rub.
  • Packing: 3 l
