Recommendation points

Purpose tiled roof– not just protection from rain, snow and other external manifestations, but also an object of architectural value that fabulously transforms the building.

The advantages of a tiled roof are durability, ease of installation and inability to catch fire. The structure of the lathing should have a large mass, since the tiles are not a light material. The recommended roof slope is 40 – 45 degrees. The lathing for a tiled roof is made of wooden beams.
Before the tiles are laid, bars or boards are laid out along the eaves. In horizontal and vertical rows, the number of tiles must be an integer. The bars are attached towards the eaves from the ridge.
Having made a crate, boards 15 cm wide are laid out along the edge of the eaves. Then the tiles are raised up and laid out with a margin of 2-3 rows. After that, the roofer starts work..

Technique for laying flat tape tiles

There are two ways of styling flat tape shingles– in two layers and with scales. In both cases, laying begins with the main slopes, then on the hip ribs and ends with a ridge. The tiles are laid in parallel rows, with the upper row of tiles overlapping the lower one. Laying is done from the eaves to the ridge. Odd rows must end with a whole tile, even ones with halves. As a result, the bricks move slightly from each other. In the first row, the tiles cling to the inner edge of the battens with spikes. The top row is attached to the top of the shingles in the first row. The bricks in the next rows are connected like the first, near the ridge – the second.

The tiles laid along the overhangs are attached to the battens of the sheathing, In the other rows, the second and third tiles are attached. Flat tape shingles are fixed in pairs with hammered clamps and nails. To begin with, the tiles are attached with tires to the crate, clamps are installed along the row. The horizontal flap of the clamp should be on top of the tile so that another brick could freely fall under the left flap.
The lapels sticking out outward are covered by the rows on top. From the side of the attic, the ends of the clamps are attached to the crate.
The most common shingle is “beaver tail”. She lies side by side on a special solution. The solution is prepared as follows: sand, lime, cement are sieved in a ratio of 5: 1: 1 and everything is filled with water. Mix thoroughly. A solution that is too greasy will crack when hardened, so close attention should be paid to the consistency. Too much cement will make the repair process extremely laborious. The consumption of tiles of this type is 32 pcs / sq. M. Dutch tiles are also used, which are laid with scales and fastened with clamps or nails to the sheathing beams.

Technique for laying grooved tape tiles

Unlike flat grooved tape shingles has a longitudinal groove with which the material is held together.
Slotted tiles are used in single-pitched and simple roofs. Fastened in one layer from pediment to ridge in parallel rows. When laying, it is important to overlap with the width of the groove and the length of 0.8 cm.

Technique for laying grooved stamped tiles

IN stamped roof tiles, besides the longitudinal ones, there are transverse closures. At the same time, the bricks are fastened with folds, which do not allow moisture to get under the roof.
The laying is single-layer from the eaves to the ridge, the overlap in width or length is equal to the length or width of the fold, respectively. It is attached to the crate with a wire passing through the eyelet of the brick. A nail is driven into the lathing bar, to which the wire is tied.
At the end of the masonry, the joints should be covered with clay or cement mortar to prevent the wind from blowing the roof.
