Modern design solutions cannot be imagined without complex plasterboard structures. This material has been used for a long time by almost everyone who is engaged in interior decoration of premises. Very often, gypsum boards are used for the installation of both direct and multi-level ceilings.
With the help of plasterboard systems, you can make a ceiling of any complexity, the limitation here can only be in the imagination of the designer. We will not delve into particularly complex systems, but below we will consider the installation of a simple two-level ceiling with a small radius.
To carry out the work you will need:
1.Puncher
2.Screwdriver
3. Level
4. Pencil, tape measure, knife and scissors for metal
The material that is needed for the future construction is generally available and will not hit the budget. You will need the ceiling GKL itself (9 mm thick), as well as three types of metal profiles: UD, CD and a partition wall 50ร50 mm.
From the fastening material, screws of two types will be needed, a dowel-nail and a direct suspension.
We begin installation with marking. To do this, using a level, we beat off a horizontal line along the entire perimeter of the walls..
Then we draw the correct radius, the edges of which we snap to the protruding corners of the walls..
We fix the UD profile along the entire perimeter of the walls using a puncher and dowels.
In order to bend the profile along the radius, it is necessary to cut it into segments. We do this with metal scissors.
And according to the already existing markings, we attach it to the ceiling. To make the radius, we use a partition profile.
The preliminary wireframe looks like this:
Next, we proceed to fastening the CD profile. We choose a step between them 40 cm.This will ensure the maximum strength of this frame..
To ensure the rigidity of a wide profile, we additionally strengthen the fastening using straight hangers.
We bend the edges of the suspensions so that they do not interfere in the future.
The final wireframe looks like this:
If lighting is planned, then do not forget to make the wiring for built-in lamps. We make sure that the lamps do not hit the ceiling profile.
We proceed to the installation of the drywall itself. We cut the sheets to size and mount the bottom plane.
The pitch between the screws is about 25 cm. We slightly embed the hats in the plane of the cardboard.
A thin strip of drywall bends easily at a radius.
As a result, we get just such a construction.
What are the essential steps to successfully install a two-level plasterboard ceiling on my own? Are there any specific tools or techniques I should know about? Any tips or advice from experienced DIYers would be greatly appreciated!
