The heater stove is an irreplaceable thing in a sauna or steam bath. It can be ordered from a special company, or you can do it yourself. We will find out in this article how to make the metal structure of the furnace, what is required for this, what is important to pay attention to.

Creation of a construction project. Development of drawings

Before drawing up a project of a stove-heater, you should decide on the dimensions of the structure – they will depend on the size of the room where the stove is supposed to be installed. In this case, it is important to lay additional gaps for the cladding of the structure with stone or brick.

To create the metal frame of the heater, we will use mainly “black” steel 3 mm thick. We will create a grate from thick hardened steel or cast iron no thinner than 8 mm (so that the metal does not burn out). For fume extraction we can use a thick-walled pipe Ø 150 mm. • sheet 12 mm (Steel St3 or cast iron) – 600×600 mm;
• strip 30×4 mm (Steel St3) – 2.5 m;
• pipe O 150×8 mm (Steel St3) – 0.6 m;
• metal hinges (small) – 4 pcs.

Stove making

1. Metal cutting. Mark the contours of the parts with a marker on the sheets, cut them out using a grinder and cutting discs. We cut the grate with manual plasma (or send it to a special company for cutting). We cut strips and pipes into blanks.

2. Welding assemblies. We connect the lids, boxes, metal frame of the heater into one-piece structures. Create a single assembly.

3. Fitting all sizes, quality control. We check the dimensions of the elements for compliance with the project, as well as for the smoothness of opening the covers, pulling out the drawer. At the same time, do not forget about the presence of gaps – when heated, the metal will increase.

4. Cleaning weld beads. We remove all irregularities, burrs. We give the design a presentation.

5. Priming of all surfaces. We cover all surfaces of the product with a primer. The primer must be special – withstand high temperatures, humidity.

Product installation

1. Creation of a special place for the installation of the heater. The structure should be mounted on a special slab, reinforced floor – it must withstand temperature changes, the load from the furnace.

2. Fixing the structure to the floor. We weld (fasten) the product to the previously withdrawn mortgages. It is also possible to mount the stove using anchors.

3. Output of the smoke exhaust pipe. The stove pipe must have an outlet to the street, so you need to take care of this first.

4. Facing the product. We cover the outer surfaces of the furnace with heat-resistant brick or stone. We put large stones in the upper part of the furnace.

A heater stove is a useful device for a sauna or bath. Making it yourself is not so difficult. It is important to remember about smoke extraction, safe location of the structure.
