Chain-link fences are popular due to their quick installation and low price. This is a really budget option, but it has a very significant drawback – the fence does not hide anything. And it looks, we admit, boring. But there is an opportunity to make a chain-link fence much more interesting.
The main task of the owners of a plot fenced with a chain-link is to hide their yard from the eyes of neighbors and passers-by. That is, we are talking primarily about making the hedge opaque, and only after that – more attractive. Moreover, both tasks usually coincide and are solved using one of the techniques that we will offer you.
The first way is to plant plants near the fence from the chain-link, which will quickly braid the metal mesh and turn it into an analogue of a hedge. In general, there are two options: use the weaving plants to disguise the chain-link and make the fence opaque, or plant a full-fledged hedge nearby, which the mesh will additionally protect.
There are few disadvantages to this option for decorating a chain-link fence. For example, many plants in winter will not look so beautiful on the net or next to it – no one canceled the seasonality. In addition, the hedge requires regular maintenance, and the flowers weaving on the net will not give 100% privacy, as they cover the fence unevenly. In addition, you have to wait until the green fence decoration grows to the desired size..
The second way is to use a camouflage mesh or other types of nylon mesh. Such a disguise is inexpensive, you can change the appearance of the fence very quickly, you do not need to wait until the plants grow, as in the previous case. As a result, the fence becomes opaque, in addition, if you choose camouflage or just a green mesh, it will merge with the green.
The third way is to make a braid from reeds or branches on the chain-link. We have already described how to make a wattle fence. Of course, such a chain-link decor will not last too long, the reeds will quickly darken and may begin to rot. And the branches on the braid will fray after a couple of seasons. But at first, such a decor in the form of reeds or intertwined branches will definitely decorate the grid and close the yard from prying eyes. A more expensive option is to use bamboo branches to mask the chain-link.
The fourth way is to use an awning or an old advertising banner instead of a camouflage net. More expensive, but much more beautiful is to order a banner with an image, for example, of a meadow or a forest. The fence will be completely opaque, and if you buy an awning with eyelets, it will be very easy to hang it on a chain-link. Minus – banners and awnings fade under the sun’s rays and quickly deteriorate.
The fifth way is to use polycarbonate. We wrote how to make a polycarbonate hedge. The combination of this material with a chain-link gives an excellent result. Yes, the fence will be more expensive, but durable and very presentable. It is best to combine polycarbonate with chain-link sections.
The sixth way is to show imagination and use scrap materials. For example, plastic bottles or lids, multi-colored thin wire from which you can create very beautiful patterns, real embroidery on the net, old computer disks, scotch tape of different colors. There are many options, but as a result, an ordinary chain-link fence will turn into a unique work of art.
