Of course, an opening mechanism is needed – a rail with wheels, which will be securely fixed on top of the doorway. The top track can be of different shapes: round, rectangular, square, in the form of the letter J. It is important that the top track is equipped with stoppers, side stops. Movable rollers can be fixed either on the top end or on special plates on the upper outer part.

There are ready-made mechanisms for hanging and opening the barn door, by the way, not cheap – about 10 thousand rubles. But they always look original and allow you to softly and silently open the door. You can, of course, find simpler and cheaper options.

As you can see in the last two photos, the barn door is not necessarily wooden. It can be refined with a mirror or made of tempered glass. It is clear that you cannot make such an option with your own hands, it is always a purchased door, and not cheap. But it will look great in a modern interior.
