There is an opinion that PVC windows are white rectangles, completely devoid of decorative and stylistic expressiveness, and if you want something original and truly beautiful, then you need to turn to other materials. This is not so, and today we will tell you what possibilities plastic windows have in terms of creativity and design..

The first plastic window profiles were created in Germany in 1954. In a short time, in just a few years, they managed to take first place among the materials used for the production of windows, doors and facade elements. Almost two-thirds of all new windows produced in the world today are made of PVC. The reasons for such preferences on the part of the construction business and the end consumer are understandable: plastic is an environmentally friendly material, windows made of it are not afraid of changing cycles of wetting and drying, do not suffer from exposure to solar radiation and aggressive reagents of the urban environment, have a long service life and high safety. True, in Russia there is a widespread prejudice regarding this product: for some reason its design capabilities are considered to be limited, inferior to solutions from other materials.

With the help of plastic windows, even the most ordinary facade or interior of an apartment can be turned into a real work of art. So, what can be made of seemingly ordinary plastic?

The form

Rectangle is the most common, but far from the only possible geometric solution for a window. Plastic is easy to process, PVC profiles can be connected to each other at different angles, as well as bend. As a result, you can make a window of almost any shape: an irregular polygon, trapezoid, triangle, or even a circle. Most often there are arched windows with a rounded top. They look especially beautiful in private houses, the style of which tends towards retro motives. Less often side arches are made, but today you see triangular and trapezoidal structures in suburban buildings more and more often, they allow you to emphasize the original architectural taste of the owner even on a standard facade.

Modern technology can provide even a rectangular window with the ability to look unusual. Until the mid-1980s, plastic windows were exclusively white. But the lamination technology appeared – the application of a special film on the surface of the profile, which can have a different color and texture – and the idea of ​​a plastic window as a white window is certainly a thing of the past. For example, the VEKA assortment today includes more than 70 variants of various tinting films, some of which are unique and made specifically for the company’s partners. With the help of lamination, you can get a window (structure) of almost any color (color scheme, shade) – from precious woods to metallic. The film can be applied both on both sides of the window, and on one. What’s more: different sides can have different colors. For example, from the side of the facade, the window can be brown (this is especially important when replacing windows in buildings whose appearance is under protection, the color of the facades of such buildings cannot be arbitrarily changed), and from the side of the room – white or whatever.

Lamination is not the only possible way to make windows colored; some companies paint PVC profiles in special chambers or use aluminum linings, which not only give the window an original color, but also additionally protect it from external influences. This is done so that the window has a harmonious color image not only when closed, but also when open, when parts of the window are visible, on which the lamination film is not applied. In addition to the profile, window seals can also have different colors – in the VEKA range they can be black, gray or made in the color “caramel”. The color of the seals does not affect their quality in any way, and is solely related to the aesthetics of the window and the wishes of the customer.

Decor

The profile itself also has its own aesthetics that affect the appearance of the window. Different systems can have different angles of inclination, roundness, protrusions. Sometimes it is enough to change one detail for the window to be perceived differently – for example, in the VEKA product program there are rounded and curly glazing beads that give the window a special charm. In addition to color and shape, you can add stylistic expressiveness to the product using various decor tools. For example, decorative overlays and capitals, allowing you to create windows “antique”, in the style of Greek or Roman classicism.
