In this article, we will tell you how to independently adjust plastic windows and thereby correct minor defects in the mechanisms of window fittings. To do this, you need to know the location and principle of operation of the elements and the principles of their configuration..
The use of high-quality fittings in plastic windows ensures reliable operation for a long time. But any mechanism, including window fittings, needs regular maintenance, since over time it can wear out and malfunctions may occur in its operation. Symptoms of a problem that have occurred are problems with closing a window or blowing through gaps in the seals. Let’s take a closer look at the basic adjustment operations using the example of Aubi fittings.
Problem: The sash touches the bottom of the frame when closing
When closing the window, it is required to lift the sash up – this indicates a sagging bottom corner. The adjustment is carried out with a screw located at the end near the upper hinge. For lifting, the screw is turned clockwise one turn. We try to close the window, if nothing has changed, we wrap it up further.
The previous operation sometimes does not help, then the sash should be raised along the axis of the hinges. The decorative cap is removed from the lower hinge and the screw rotates clockwise.
Problem: the sash touches the frame sideways when closing
The elimination of this defect is achieved by displacing the sash towards the hinges. If the engagement occurs only from the bottom, then adjust the screw under the lower hinge, which (if slopes interfere) is also available from the other side.
It happens that the sash rubs against the frame with its entire side, in which case the adjustment shown in photo 1 is performed.
Adjusting the pressure mechanism
During use, rubber seals lose their elasticity and decrease in volume. Due to this, air begins to blow through them, dust appears. The hardware device allows you to solve this problem with a simple adjustment. On the front sides of the sash there are eccentrics that can be adjusted to achieve different clamping forces.
The first to adjust is the side with the handle. To increase the pressure, the mark should be closer to the seal. After the end of cold weather, it is better to turn the eccentrics back to the “summer” mode to increase the service life of the seals.
The sash clamp at the location of the upper hinge is installed by means of an eccentric screw located on the scissors, access to which is possible only in the slightly open position.
Such simple adjusting operations allow you to maintain window systems in working order, and a simple adjustment of worn fittings can be done independently in just a few minutes..
“Can anyone provide some guidance on adjusting plastic window fittings without professional help? I’m curious to know if it’s feasible to do it yourself and if there are any specific tools or techniques that would be helpful. Any personal experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated!”
