How to prevent drafts on the floor from the balcony? What is the best way to make the floor on the loggia? How to quickly and inexpensively install your own flooring? How much is 1 sq. m of wooden floor of a balcony or loggia? You can find answers to these questions in our article..
If it so happens that the balcony or loggia on the floor below is not glazed or you are the “happy” owner of the extreme lower balcony, then floor insulation is inevitable, and you will need to act here according to the thermal insulation technology. Together with the insulation, the floor covering will also be replaced. Rather, it will focus on creating a new one. In this master class, we will decide on the technology, select an inexpensive material and create a new floor on the balcony.
As it was said in the master class on the construction of the ceiling, the structures of horizontal surfaces (floor and ceiling) must be independent, that is, not be attached to the walls. This is done in order to avoid damage to new coatings during possible movement of structural elements..
Sometimes the balcony slab looks sad. Such as in the photo:
If the repair of the balcony coincides with the repair of the entire apartment, then it is better to make a full-fledged screed. Ideally – insulated (such as TEPLOVER screed): put in linoleum and forget about problems with drafts forever. But in the case when a room with a balcony remains residential, it is inconvenient and messy to carry out such work.
The choice of insulation is also associated with this – mineral wool can sit in furniture and carpets for a long time if accidentally hit. Here we will be helped by a modern insulation – expanded polystyrene (PPR). It does not leave unpleasant and invisible marks.
Choice of flooring. Since we have abandoned the screed, we are left with only the frame structure – on the transverse logs. You can cover them in different ways:
- Chipboard or OSB sheets. Top with linoleum, carpet or laminate.
- Plank floor.
- Plywood. Top parquet.
The best option is a floor board for one simple reason – it serves as both a constructive and finishing material at the same time. At the same time, the thermal insulation properties of unprocessed wood are an order of magnitude higher than wood-based panels. To do this, we need not only the board itself (grade A), but also logs, for which we use a 50×50 timber.
Work order
1. We close up cracks, joints, cracks, sinuses with cement mortar. Level the surface if possible.
2. We put roll waterproofing on the floor.
3. Cut a beam into the width of the balcony minus 30 mm and treat it with an antiseptic along with the entire board.
4. We lay out the logs with a step of 600 mm. This step is chosen based on the dimensions of the PPR plate.
5. Cut the PPR to size and lay it out between the lag.
6. Cut the board for one row and mount the first row.
Attention! There should be a gap of 15 mm between the tree and the wall on all sides.
When driving the board, be careful – use a wooden backing so as not to spoil the groove-ridge system of the board.
7. An effective way of fastening is hidden. It will give additional structural strength.
8. We tear the joint of the boards with a bar.
9. The skirting board should be wooden and also treated with an antiseptic. It is fixed to the floor, not to the wall.
The estimate for the flooring of the balcony or loggia is 6 sq. m:
Material Unit rev. Qty Unit price, rub. Cost, rub. Roofing material “TECHNONICOL” roll 1 350 350 Expanded polystyrene “PENOPLEX” 600х1200х50 mm PCS. 8 150 1200 Bar 50×50 run. m ten thirty 300 Floor board class A, 28 mm sq. m 6 400 2400 Decorative antiseptic PROPITEX Lasur jar 1 l 1 150 200 Varnish “KBS Universal” jar 1 l 1 350 350 Others (screws, brushes, blades) – – – 200 Total material 5000 Job 2000 Total material and work 7000 For additional protection, the gap between the board and the wall can be filled with polyurethane foam. A wood floor will always keep warm and please the eye with a natural texture. The coating for it can be very diverse – from a modest floor paint to an elite yacht varnish. In any version, the floorboard will perfectly fit into any interior.
