The main thing when planning and arranging parking on the site is the right choice of location. Of course, we do not know what size your plot is, but remember that parking just needs a slight slope. Otherwise, during the rain and immediately after it, you will have to get to the car exclusively in rubber boots.
It is very important that the slope in the parking lot does not go towards the house and garden, but towards the street, where there is usually a gutter. It is advisable to equip the lower part of the perimeter of the future parking lot with drainage sections, which must communicate with the storm sewer system (we hope that you have one on your site).
Otherwise, there are no special requirements for the choice of a parking space โ the main thing is that there is a convenient access and the site is spacious enough.
Letโs move on to the choice of parking cover, because just the soil is not an option for a rainy summer, and the lawn under the car will very quickly become completely unusable.
The first option is a boardwalk, as in the photo above. In this case, the car is small, it took up little space, but I had to separately equip the entrance due to the uneven terrain of the site.
Option two โ stone tiles. Such a coating looks noble, you can lay out the tiles yourself, it has a small thickness. The material is durable, but quite expensive.
The third option is the usual paving slabs or clinker bricks. A cheaper and therefore widespread option for arranging not only parking, but the entire courtyard. It is also quite a durable and convenient option that you can do yourself. It is advisable to put not only a sand and gravel mixture under the tiles or bricks, but also a reinforcing mesh, as well as a geotextile bedding. This will protect the parking surface from deformations that can be caused by groundwater and seasonal soil movements..
The fourth option is a modern eco-parking with a lawn. Grass is planted inside concrete or plastic slabs. Beautiful, really eco-friendly, but in the warm season you will have to cut the grass, otherwise the site will simply completely overgrow.
Variant 5 โ gravel backfill. Simple, fast and inexpensive. It is good if you use a special plastic drainage base, which will give strength to the entire site and avoid water accumulation. In addition, curbs will help prevent gravel from spilling outside the site..
Option six โ pouring with concrete. A very popular solution among summer residents. You will need to level the site, remove the soil, take care of the sandy base and the construction of the formwork. High-quality concrete pouring will last a long time, it can be high enough, as in the photo, which will avoid problems with the accumulation of rain and melt water.
Option seven โ good old asphalt. Quite expensive, special equipment is usually involved, although there are ways to create and lay an asphalt pavement with your own hands. But high-quality asphalt will last for many years, is not afraid of moisture and temperature changes. The downside is the unpleasant smell that fresh asphalt can emit in the heat.
Covering the site is not all the work that should be done when equipping the parking lot. The carport over the parking lot will turn it into a kind of garage. The car will be protected from rain and snow, and in summer it will not heat up in the sun, turning into a real stove. A carport can be very different, as an option, a pergola entwined with climbing plants is suitable โ also protection from the sun and partly from moisture. The canopy can be adjacent to the house or stand alone.
And finally โ not an option for everyone, but very creative and convenient. Such underground parking will simply amaze guests, but you will have to shell out a substantial amount of money for specialists involved in the production and construction of such structures..
Could you please provide more information about the rules and options for arranging parking in the country? Iโm curious to know what regulations are in place and what choices I have when it comes to parking my vehicle. Thank you!
