The importance of air exchange at home is especially felt in the food preparation area. If the air saturated with fats, moisture and odors is not removed in a timely manner, all these components will penetrate into living rooms and settle on the walls. For a kitchen hood, it is necessary to arrange a separate ventilation duct with forced injection.
The first thing to do is to identify the location of the channels, the point of connection to the common channel and the point of air intake. Then mark the wall for a vertical channel with an intake socket. In our case, plastic ventilation ducts with a cross section of 75ร150 mm will be used.
Punch a hole into the common manifold channel.
Since a wall with a vertical ventilation duct will be load-bearing (a hinge of kitchen furniture), it is not finished with gypsum board, but only putty. In it, you need to punch a groove for the channel pipe according to preliminary marking.
Check the depth of the groove โ the pipe must enter it with a 10 mm margin on each side.
After installing the vertical channel, lay the polyurethane foam in the sinuses.
Assemble the elbows and pipes of the ventilation duct according to the markings.
The channel entrance into the manifold must be sealed with polyurethane foam.
It is convenient to mount the plastic pipe on ordinary U-shaped hangers โ it has a small mass.
Please note that the pipe joints are additionally covered with tape for better tightness..
Be sure to check the draft โ it should be present even without a fan. If there is no draft or an inflow is detected, it is necessary to eliminate these problems in the ventilation system (revise it).
After installation work, the ventilation duct can be filled with mesh.
Flat plastic pipes are a convenient and effective solution for a compact individual ventilation duct. They are suitable for concealed installation behind gypsum plasterboard sheets and for laying in a gate. Cost of 1 lin. m of pipe 75ร150 is approximately 3-4 cu. e.
Iโm curious about DIY hidden ventilation ducts for kitchens. Are they an effective solution for maintaining good air quality? How difficult is it to install them yourself? Would you recommend this option for someone with limited DIY skills? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
