In raw shoes, boots, sneakers is not only unpleasant to walk – it is a direct way to a cold. In order not to suffer during bad weather and not get sick, make shoes waterproof with the help of special impregnations or using the means that you will find at home.
Beeswax and Hair Dryer
First you need to grate your shoes with wax, and then melt it with a stream of hot air from a hair dryer. Do not be afraid that the shoes will become shiny: after the composition is absorbed, the surface will be matte. In such shoes you can walk through puddles without fear that your legs will become damp. Be careful when preparing to make leather shoes waterproof with this method, as it can become stiff as a result of processing.
Using such a tool, you can be sure that the shoes will survive slush, rain, snow. This method is quick: you just need to put the composition on the shoes, and you can go outside. Due to the good moisture repellent properties of the wax, polishes not only effectively protect the coating, but also prevent the appearance of shallow scratches.
Before using the product, you need to make sure that it is safe for the material. Impregnation for suede shoes is not suitable for ordinary leather (and vice versa): in order not to spoil the coating, the spray should be used strictly for its intended purpose. Shoes are treated very carefully, since the composition can leave areas uncovered: make sure that you are able to lubricate the entire surface.
The tool has long been known for its water-repellent properties, therefore it is actively used in cosmetology. Cream based on mink oil has a serious drawback: it can soften artificial skin, which as a result will swell, exfoliate. Before processing the whole shoes, it is recommended to test the product in a small area.
Baking soda and washing powder
Mix the ingredients, lightly dilute with water to a paste and apply to the shoe surface with a toothbrush or sponge. Strongly rub the composition is not necessary. When the coating has been completely processed, wait 10-15 minutes and rinse off the composition. Leave the couple to dry overnight, in the morning it will be ready.
6. Wax ring
This device is used when sealing pipes, other plumbing, but experienced tourists use it to process shoes. Dry your shoes well, wipe the surface, then apply wax. After processing, you need to put the shoes in the sun or in a warm place for several hours. After that it is necessary to remove excess wax and you can safely put on a pair.
7. Silicone based sealant
Such a tool is recommended to be combined with a solvent for paint. Silicon included in the sealant forms a protective layer that prevents the material from getting wet. In a similar way, you can handle backpacks, furniture, other items that you want to protect from exposure to water.
8. Cork seal
This is a good protection of leather shoes from water, moisture, but it does not last long. From time to time, you will need to repeat the procedure, re-applying the protective composition to the surface.
9. Waterproof raw materials
Some models are initially produced from waterproof materials (rubber boots, etc.). By purchasing such a pair, you can be sure that it will remain dry even without special treatment, and you will not need to think about how to protect shoes from getting wet.
