House Facade
Designer Elaina Myers says the challenges of designing a house in Indonesia were formidable, but worth the effort. In cases where it was not possible to execute something according to plan, came to the aid of improvisation. She says the main feature of the interior is its mobility: many elements can be easily moved from one place to another to diversify the design.
Home atmosphere
The main problem in creating the interior was to organize additional space that would allow a feeling of freedom in this modest house. The solution came from above: the ceiling was removed and the roof sealed. As a result there is a lot more space, but the main living area is not affected.
The window frames are painted in a tropical turquoise shade. This is the homeowner’s favorite color and, along with the white tones of the walls and ceiling, it helps keep things light and bright. Before the renovation, the house was dark and gloomy, with brown window frames and a crumbling ceiling.
Cozy patio
Most houses on Asia’s Pacific coast don’t stand out in the design of either the exterior or the interior. This American surfer’s paradise on a small Indonesian island is a real oasis, and one that you want to return to again and again.
