According to the architects, the main goal was to integrate the building into this part of town where the Andes Mountain, extremely powerful both visually and tectonically. That’s why the presence of the mountain landscape was thought to be an obvious backdrop.

Regarding the above, the strategy to achieve the proposed idea was to place the house as if it was resting somewhere on a slope and, the use of slopes in the interior. This adjustment resulted in an unusual entrance, as well as children’s rooms with space for beds with the opportunity to admire the sky.

The important task was to organize an easy and constant circulation of cool air. As a consequence, the windows and doors were aligned on the axes, and visual integration was created.

The phases of construction consisted first of all in placing retaining walls to create a horizontal plane in the public areas of the house. Secondly, in the installation of the containers and assembling them from the top. Third, in their wrapping with materials that bring the pieces together and create a ventilated façade.

The choice of materials was driven not only by their low cost, but also by the low maintenance costs. Their durability was also taken into account, which added value to the design of this interior.

Architectural elements such as windows and doors were rationally placed throughout the house, not only to keep costs down, but also to create an architectural world united with the surroundings.

This cantilevered container house looks absolutely incredible! I’m curious about the practicality of such a design. Does the cantilevered structure compromise the stability of the house, or is it engineered to withstand any potential challenges? Additionally, how does the use of the container in the design affect the overall functionality and livability of the house?
