A modern take on an old home in a landmark renovation project

This wonderful 350 sq.m. property is located in the prestigious Westmount area, an English speaking enclave of Montreal, Canada. Affleck de la Riva arc’s project cost $750,000 to renovate.

Strictly speaking, there was only one wing of the house to be built, with room for 2 families. The complexity of the terrain dictated the original solution – the architecture can be described as a sophisticated essay on asymmetry. Ultra-modern silhouette cheerfully fountains positive energy against the understated neo-Gothic backdrop.

The facade is partially finished in authentic black slate. Corner bay window outside and 2-story backyard addition made of red brick. The living room flows effortlessly into the comfortable patio, respecting the high specifications for privacy.
