We're back with you, our dear visitors to the fascinating forum. The Belas I house invites you to relax and meditate. Located in Portugal. Their project Estúdio Urbano created specifically for the tranquil landscape of Sintra.
The house is located on the private property of Belas Clube de Campo. It was a custom project. A house built in contrast to the natural surroundings. And yet it blends harmoniously into the landscape of the surrounding park. It is a unique harmony of contradictions.
Not only is the building dramatically different from the surrounding nature in color, but it's also separated by an embankment of stone around the foundation. The lawn grass is firmly ordered to keep its distance and not dare to grow nearby. Even the slabs near the beautiful pool look like protection from the plants trying to peek through the windows. One slab actually supports the balcony, giving it strength. And they both protect the house and the pool from the wind and sun.
Huge balconies that blend in with the walls to create a monumental structure. Even the gaps between the foundation and the balcony carve out fragments of nature, looming menacingly over it. They also serve as protection from the scorching sun. Thanks to the structure, the interior is always in the shade.
The steps that go into the water of the pool are an extension of the forecourt and connect the two elements, stone and water.
The house looks like a rock against the sky. But the light pastel colors the house is painted in are not at odds with the blue of the sky. The finish on the top part of the balcony joins them together.
Dark flooring made of large boards looks monolithic. The rooms are not separated by a threshold. The flooring surface is uniform throughout the house. The partitions and columns are snow-white, and therefore weightless in appearance, seeming to be simply placed on top of the dark laminate.
A chic kitchen that shines with light, spacious and functional. All the equipment is covered under the panels and hidden in cabinets. The combination of the glossy sheen of the white walls and ceiling stands out sharply against the dark floor. Everything seems to float.
The design of the space under the stairs is original. A full range of closets of different heights. Choose the size you want and put all the things you need but don't need all the time.
