The original Wedge House, an irregular wedge mansion by SOUP Architects, UK

The Wedge House, designed by SOUP Architects in the UK, is an irregularly shaped mansion. It stands out from its immediate surroundings due to its unique shape – a wedge. This allows for a maximum amount of natural light to be admitted inside thanks to its numerous, carefully placed windows and provides unmatched views of the surrounding landscape. The smaller, private areas of the house are placed at the wedge's center, creating distinct separation between public and private living areas. In addition, the Wedge House is structurally advanced and requires minimal maintenance to keep its shape and state due to its strong, durable concrete walls. All in all, the exceptional design of the Wedge House provides beautiful views, and comfortable, private dwellings.

This structure is located in the town of Tames-Ditton in Surrey, England. Its configuration could be called trapezoidal, but due to the fact that one of the corners is very sharp, the irregular shaped wedge comes out. We suggest visitors to Forum City look at the building in detail, perhaps you’ll find some good ideas for home design.

Surrey Irregular Wedge House

The exterior cladding material is a combination of red Canadian cedar lath and dark grey plaster. It blends well with the whiteness of the interior walls. Designers combined different materials in a two-story mansion. The hidden closet doors and staircase are made of dark American walnut planks; the floor is polished concrete. The interior has a modernist style. Simple and clean.

The design of the original Wedge House is not based on any specific architectural style, but rather is a unique and innovative form in itself. The house stands out for its wedge-shaped structure, which was designed to fit into a narrow triangular plot of land. This unique shape allows for maximum natural light and ventilation throughout the space, creating a bright and airy living environment. While the design may draw inspiration from modern and minimalist architecture, the Wedge House can be considered a one-of-a-kind creation that pushes the boundaries of traditional architectural styles.
