The idea of the project was to keep the architecture of the mansion, and to make the interior modern and at the same time full of memories of the romantic XIX century. The new owners of the house have lived for many years in a charming area with an inspiring atmosphere of medieval villages, and with the move to a new place of residence wanted to get no less picturesque view.
The purchase of an old, abandoned building was the first and main step that clearly defined the direction of the design. The brick walls and natural stone masonry were painted only neutral colors, making them a perfect backdrop for the refined furnishings and other dรฉcor. The rich textures of the decoration set the general mood of the interior.
The result is the perfect setting for creative types who draw inspiration from their surroundings. It is also important that the house is located in the historic district, where the air itself is filled with the memory of bygone times.
The renovation of the house is truly extensive. Almost all dilapidated trim had to be replaced, including the floorboards. The designers preferred natural materials that were popular in the years the house was built, – smooth sanded boards of dark wood. The boards were not varnished to give them a more authentic look.
Dark textured wood was also used for the walls and furniture fronts. On the top floor in some rooms the construction of the ceiling was left open. The strong rafters give the rooms a particular rhythm and โpersonality.
The historic atmosphere in the dining room is created by the elegant antique mahogany set. And in the living room you can see the absolute opposite – refined modern upholstered furniture in light colors.
The bedroom is decorated in a similar style, but with a modern twist. The same room has a dressing room and bathroom, hidden behind the solid wood partition. The atmosphere in this comfortable room is incredibly calm and peaceful.
Large skylights flood the second floor creative studios with light. The decor here is simple – it can even be called ultraminimalistic, – however, it is very impressive with its creativity.
Early 19th century architecture, traditional textured materials and modern laconicism of the furniture create a wonderful interior. It is imbued with the spirit of history, which the designers have tried to preserve in full. The masters have created a really creative, harmonious and inspiring environment.
