We can say with confidence that window structures made of such a modern material as polyvinyl chloride do not support combustion in the absence of a fire source.

When PVC burns, no lethal substances are emitted. Hydrogen chloride has a pungent odor and is easily detected. In addition, it reacts with water vapor and forms hydrochloric acid. The concentration is so low that it is safe for human health. Carbon monoxide, the so-called odorless carbon monoxide, is also released when wood burns, so there is no need to talk about the danger of substances released from PVC during combustion. This material is safer than wood.

Vacuum insulating glass units are good heat insulators. If a fire breaks out in an apartment or office, a double or triple glass unit will “strangle” it. A double-glazed unit is a construction of two or more glasses. If the first glass bursts from a strong temperature drop, the second will not allow the fire to spread – its temperature will approach the critical much more slowly.
