A forest creation or architecture in the thick of the forest by the design studio BAK Architects, Buenos Aires, Argentina

BAK Architects, a design studio based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has devised an innovative way of creating an architecture within a forest. This forest creation, surrounded by trees and foliage, is designed to make use of natural climate control - reducing the use of external energy sources - while taking into account the special conditions of the existing environment. By utilizing its unique location, this forest architecture combines aesthetic beauty, environmental principles, and renewable energy sources to create a serene space that is both cozy and efficient.

As we continue our sketches of the amazing designs of modern structures, I suggest we move on to the gentle, pine-forested slopes of Argentina. There, in the picturesque area of Mar Azul, near Buenos Aires, the labors of the design agency BAK Architects located a comfortable private residence – AV House.

The building is laid out on a small area of the slope plane so that the various functional areas are at different levels of the house. The custom-designed residence consists of a living room, bathroom, built-in kitchen, two bedrooms and a spacious terrace for relaxation.

The landscaping of the gently sloping terrain resulted in the separation of two distinct facades. The entrance to the house is in the central part – in the middle of the slope. The dining room and kitchen are on this level with an open view.

The outer wall in each of the bedrooms is made of glass, thereby maintaining the effect of being in an open forest space. Inside, the walls, floor and ceiling are covered with pine boards, which completes the feeling of coziness, saturating the air with the scent of wood.

The glass used in place of the front wall reveals a view full of surrounding vegetation in all its splendor. This close proximity creates a feeling of absolute integration into the primitive nature of the forest.

The construction materials used in the construction of the mansion are distinguished by their environmental friendliness. H21 concrete mix with a special component added to strengthen the concrete requires little water. And, accordingly, is not afraid of damp. Some of the partition walls are made of hollow brick, which is a good thermo- and sound insulator. Thanks to the glass, the house has taken on a certain lightness, blending harmoniously into the forest landscape. And the use of wood in the finishes completes the picture of a total fusion with nature.

As there is no natural gas in the area, the heating problem was solved by using a fireplace, electric stoves and natural gas bottled heaters.

For people who are tired of the daily noise and frantic pace of life, this home will give you peace and quiet, allowing you to breathe in the coolness of the forest and feel again your kinship with the majestic nature, while maintaining all the advantages of the comfort of civilization.

The forest creation or architecture in the thick of the forest by BAK Architects sounds intriguing. I wonder what inspired their design and how they managed to integrate the structure seamlessly into its natural surroundings. Can you provide more information about the materials used and any sustainable practices implemented in this project?
