The profession of an architect is not just the ability to design a residential or office building, it is a creative profession that requires imagination, skill, and a certain amount of courage. Today there are many awards that honor the best architects in the world. This is the “Golden Section”, the “Challenge of Time”, the “House of the Year” and many, many others. Today Forum City will tell you about the winner of the Golden Nugget Award. In 2011 it was the company Tate Studio Architects and their project of a house in the U.S. state of Arizona. Right in the middle of nowhere. This house is built for single family living and has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. And it has an original design of the facade and interior trim.
It’s worth paying attention to how well the glass walls let in light from the street, and open up a view of the inner garden.
Space is wide and free. Even the bathroom resembles the apartment of an Egyptian queen. In this house you can simultaneously enjoy a warm bath and admire the landscape outside the window.
The design of the courtyard is also striking. Large pool with its own small waterfall, playground and variable light system. Veranda as well as the main room is made of stone. The combination of different stone species makes it possible to make different functional systems. Partitions, bowls, floor tiles. It’s interesting that the scenery, again, is the nature itself. Big cacti, dry trees, and mountains. City dwellers have long been deprived of the opportunity to admire the natural landscape, and we’ve almost forgotten what it really is. But, believe me, you can hardly think of something more perfect.
What inspired the architects to create such a stunning minimalist masterpiece in the middle of the desert? What were the specific design principles or elements that they incorporated into the building? How does the structure interact with its surroundings and harness the beauty of the desert landscape?
