Curvy lines for motorcycle enthusiasts by Nakae Architects and Akiyoshi Takagi Architects –on the bike straight into the apartment!

Nakae Architects and Akiyoshi Takagi Architects have designed a brand new concept providing motorcycle enthusiasts with a unique lifestyle experience. The concept involves a connecting arcade with curvy landscapes, allowing riders to access their homes without taking off their helmets or getting off their motorcycles. The curved forms also evoke an exciting racing aesthetic, making it fun for riders to go to and from their homes. The innovative design allows riders to interact with their environment while riding into their apartments.

The shape of the building is based on the letter “C”. In the center, there is a small courtyard, through which bikers get right into their multi-level apartment along with their vehicles. The house is designed with 8 apartments, all with access from small garages for motorcycles on the first floor.

The layout of the rooms is made in the style of of modern minimalism: The rooms are all small but functional. This approach is typical of the Japanese school of design, and even more so in this project, where the passions and interests of the inhabitants are put to the fore and the usual trappings of external comfort are disregarded.

I’m curious to know how the architects managed to seamlessly integrate curvy lines into the design of the apartment for motorcycle enthusiasts. How did they ensure the practicality and functionality of the space while still capturing the essence of a motorcycle’s sleek design?
