House in Valongo. This is the simple name given to the new project by Atelier Nuno Lacerda Lopes.
As guests of Forum City will have noticed, the house is closed to outside contact. The patio shows its full beauty. The wide windows evoke a sense of imbalance, a sensation.
The functional requirements were simple: to arrange the rooms in accordance with the intended use, to create natural ventilation and lighting. Austere and pronounced coolness of the furnishings.
When choosing the materials the main factor was the desire to ensure the integrity of the house, the unity of the idea. The shadow play on the facades is the result of three-dimensional geometric inserts. Amidst the overall austerity of the interior, they give flexibility and richness to the design. The vertical structure of the wood sets the rhythm for the entire eastern façade.
This design solution is designed to disconcert. Simple materials in strict implementation give the idea of a special harmony. A strict control of aesthetics helps to feel the innovation of an idea and the human desire to realize personal visions of comfort.
