Forum City is pleased to welcome you. Today weโre going to talk about Linear House, which was designed by Studio B Architects. Built in Aspen, Colorado, USA, it is almost ten hectares of land, chosen for its beauty, privacy and the delightful mountain scenery that surrounds it.
Even though the area is large, the Hong Kong clients insisted on preserving as many trees and the surrounding natural landscape as possible, so only a small area was occupied.
The biggest challenge of the project was not only the bad weather conditions, given its location at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, but also the clients themselves, who were constantly moving around the world. Naturally, materials had to be discussed, decisions made, etc.. In addition, a professional geologist was hired to determine avalanche paths for proper and safe construction. Among the materials chosen by the experts, more were used: teak siding, hand-engraved limestone from the Yangtze River, glass and Japanese plaster.
The L-shaped building is positioned so that part of its stone foundation goes into the ground. The upper level contains four bedrooms, a meditation room, common passageway areas and a library.
The layout provides a magnificent view of the hills and the forest from every corner and the patio terrace is infinitely breathtaking.
