Pedralbes is an unusual three-floor house in Barcelona โ€“ a primitive and minimalist design by BCarquitectos

Pedralbes is a unique three-storey house in Barcelona that boasts a primitive yet minimalist design. The house, designed by BCarquitectos, features an eye catching aesthetic, with natural materials expertly blended into a modern layout. Natural light enters the interior space, making it pleasant and inviting. Despite its simple, clandestine form, Pedralbes stands out in the neighbourhood, capitalizing on the ancient style of the area while seamlessly integrating modern sophistication.

Storage rooms, a gym, a wine cellar and another room for sports activities at the back of the garden. On the opposite side of the garage is the outdoor pool, small but cozy and visible only to the occupants of the mansion. The main entrance was designed in the center of the first floor. All the different levels of the building: first floor, second floor, second floor, third floor and cellar have been designed in accordance with the longitudinal shape of the terrain.

A stairwell and elevator in the center divide it into functional areas. The spacious entrance hall of the Pedralbes private apartment creates several rooms: to the left are the living rooms, opposite is the dining room, and to the right are the study, the kitchen and the service area. The sleeping rooms, the TV room on the second and third floor open onto spacious terraces that follow the sinuous shape of this part of the house. The striking contrast between the wooden facade structure and the concrete plastered walls promotes the integration of the building into the garden and the natural surroundings.

The streamlined, flowing shape of the exterior faรงade, its wood paneling as an exterior covering, and its minimalist design are the most significant things about this building that can be remembered by the outside observer. Such architectural details neutralize the โ€œprimitivist effectโ€ that often accompanies the style of minimalism, and the presence of wood invariably gives a sense of warmth and attracts the eye in its own way. The interior, on the contrary, is quite rich, with a great variety of rich details. The external and internal spaces are thus in a relationship of contrast and opposition to each other.
