Plane house –an functioning summer house situated around the hillside of Banana Beach on the resort island of Skiathos in Greece. The aim of the project was to get rid of the constraints between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The idea was developed by the architectural firm K Studio. Pool cleverly placed in front of the house. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings. As the north wind slides across the surface of the pool, it creates a refreshing breeze that reaches the terrace and keeps the house cool. The water drained from the pool and the hydrogen sulphide released by the sun’s energy is reused for irrigation, for flushing the toilet and for firefighting. Standing on the roof, made with eco-friendly materials, you can admire the beautiful scenery. Even the surrounding trees do not obstruct your view.
The house reminds you of an airplane when you approach it from the pathway to the sea. From afar the individual parts of the plane seem to be separated, but if you come closer you will see a breathtaking view. It’s created by a visual change of space.
