Conservation is on everyone’s minds. This is why I invited friends of the Creative Forum to see a house built in Denmark out of recycled material. The designers of Lendager Arkitekte had the task of creating a house that would cut CO2 emissions by half.
Upcycle House solved two problems at once. Waste building materials were used in the construction of the house. What is often simply burned, collected and developed a way to create environmentally friendly and cheap materials. Tested different ones in the lab, testing models of ventilation.
The base of the structure is made of containers that have reached the end of their useful lives. The walls and roof are made from recycled beer and cans.
The house used wood chip pressed boards in the finishes. The panels were made by pressing scrap wood without the use of synthetic glue. Wood fibers and resins form a tight bond when strongly compressed. Exterior surfaces have perfect flatness.
Part of the floor made of wooden logs. This is also not a building material, because the diameter of the branches is small and they are not suitable for the manufacture of wooden objects by standard technologies.
What specific eco-friendly features does the Upcycle House have that make it a dream come true for Greenpeace?
