Continuing the theme of interesting interior design projects in homes, we present you the development of Australian architectural firm Indyk.
This super modern mansion is built on the southern coast of Australia – the only continent without active volcanoes, in the town of Coalcliff. It’s mainly made of concrete and wood.
City Planner’s Opinion:
“Grown on the very edge of a precipitous cliff, the house is surrounded to the west, east and north by the formidable waves of the ocean. Our main goal was to create a “safe haven” for living here with beautiful seascapes outside the window.
The structure was originally designed for two elderly people who are regularly visited by adult children and grandchildren. It is divided into three levels, safely hidden from the indiscreet gaze of neighbors and with open ocean views.
Dining room, living room, guest bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. The kitchen opens onto a central patio completely sheltered from the sea winds.
All safety issues have been taken into account. It’s perfectly protected from fires, winds and moisture. In addition, the house is equipped with its own power plant, solar panels, gas supply and a collector of rainwater, which is used later for garden irrigation and toilet needs. The mansion’s concrete walls retain heat well.

This is truly a remarkable architectural marvel! I’m curious to know, how did Indicom Architects ensure the stability and safety of the wooden residence considering its location on the edge of a cliff? Did they use any specific techniques or materials to withstand the potential risks?
