Modern country home by Bates Masi built with traditional technology, Southampton, S.C
This wonderful modern country home, designed and built by renowned Bates Masi Architects, combines traditional building materials and technology to create a luxurious living space. Located in Southampton, South Carolina, this home seamlessly blends classic and contemporary elements. Its traditional shingle-style cladding compliments a spacious interior featuring an open plan living area, high ceilings, hardwood floors, thick insulation, and expansive windows. With over 6,000 square feet of modern country living, this house sits perfectly on its beautiful 4.5-acre lot, so inhabitants can take full advantage of all that its natural surroundings have to offer.

In the kitchen, the authors decided to pay tribute to modernity. A table with a cooktop looks like it’s suspended in mid-air.
The main advantage of the house is its seismic resistance. The lightweight frame construction is not afraid even of significant fluctuations of the earth’s surface. Such a building cannot be damaged by hurricane winds either.
