Brazilian homes: an art gallery in a private mansion by Denise Macedo Arquitetos Associados

This post focuses on a private mansion in Brazil, designed and renovated by Denise Macedo Arquitetos Associados. The mansion has been melded with an art gallery, which showcases pieces of classical Brazilian art. The post showcases how maintaining classic design architecture can create a timeless living space, as well as providing the perfect environment to display works of art. The mansion features spacious and open living areas, increasing the natural brightness of the home, with various nooks placed around the house for more intimate moments. The art gallery has exposed brick walls, unfinished surfaces and a custom-made lighting system tailored to the art pieces. This fusion of architecture and artwork creates a captivating home, which is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

A veritable art gallery was built. The walls are 14 meters long and &#8211 6 meters high, with an area of &#8211 m for the pictures2.

The designers chose the finishing materials guided by the principles of simplicity and clarity. The interior had to be neat, clean and uncluttered so as not to detract from the homeowners’ pride –collection of paintings. So, the cement floor and smooth white walls required no additional finishing. The pale wood adds just the right amount of warmth, and the metalwork is a reminder that the area where the house is built was famous for mining. The designers chose the furniture according to the same concept – simplicity and comfort of minimalism.

You’ll agree that this cottage is truly delightful!

The inspiration behind creating Brazilian homes as art galleries in private mansions stems from a desire to celebrate and promote Brazilian artists and their works. By incorporating and showcasing these artworks, the living experience is enriched, as the residents are constantly surrounded by beauty and creativity, fostering a deeper appreciation for art. This architectural approach not only adds aesthetic appeal but also serves as a platform for the expression and recognition of Brazilian culture. The integration of different art forms within the design of these homes creates a symbiotic relationship between the space and the artwork, complementing each other and enhancing the overall visual experience. Brazilian artists are given a prominent platform to display their works, gaining exposure and recognition within their own country and beyond. As a result, Brazilian homes become cultural hubs, fostering a sense of pride and preserving the artistic heritage of Brazil.
