The Evolver spiral structure’s high-altitude observation deck by EPFL, Zermatt, Switzerland

The Evolver Spiral Structure in Zermatt, Switzerland, designed by EPFL, offers visitors an unparalleled view of the Alps from its high-altitude observation deck. Built on a sloped terrain, the structure is constructed of steel and glass and features a double-helix staircase that offers access to the platform as it wraps itself around the core of the building. Visitors can take in stunning views of the majestic mountain range while exploring the structure's viewing terraces and bridges. In addition, the structure provides an energy-efficient solution, reducing the reliance on traditional lighting systems. This is complimented by the use of sustainable materials, allowing the Evolver Spiral Structure to keep its carbon footprint small while delivering an extraordinary experience for all who visit.
Evolver's viewpoint amid the Swiss mountains

Twenty-four timber frames make up the framework of the original building. Through a series of continuous narrow slots as you move 720 degrees, you get amazing views of the water at Lake Stelli (2,536 meters above sea level) and the surrounding mountain peaks. Through the gaps between the parallel wooden slats, the visitor can view details of the exquisite landscape. The scenery varies depending on the viewpoint.
