A unique building in the making

According to Architect, Gensler designed a 241 m2 campus as the headquarters for the Dubai Future Foundation. Gensler Executive Director Richard Hammond also made a statement in honor of the opening:

“The groundbreaking project looked into the future, and 3D printing could possibly solve the environmental and urbanization problems that have accumulated. Customers can get complex buildings very quickly.”.

Construction firms Thornton Tomasetti Engineering and Syska Hennessy Engineering participated in the creation of the 3D house of the future.

According to a press release, the 3D printer that was used to print the building has a height of 6.1 meters, a length of 36.6 meters and a width of 12.2 meters. An automated robotic arm was used in the work of this printmaker, and it took half as many workers to erect the same building in the traditional way.

One employee managed the printer, seven construction workers did the installation, and ten more connected the house to utilities.
