A new building concept from Bosch Rexroth and the Institute for Lightweight Construction and Conceptual Design (ILEK) in Stuttgart
Bosch Rexroth, in collaboration with the Institute for Lightweight Construction and Conceptual Design (ILEK) in Stuttgart, have created a revolutionary new building concept consisting of composite panels that reduce energy consumption for building construction. This lightweight construction offers a range of advantages, including reduction in structural costs, increased load capacity, and optimized interior acoustics. The panels are also designed for rapid installation, offering flexibility and adherence to current safety and quality standards. Additionally, the panels are both recyclable and environmentally friendly. Delivering superior quality and performance, these state-of-the-art walls take building construction to the next level.
The original wooden dome is lightweight and only about 4 cm thick. There are four support points, one of which is static, and the other three are equipped with hydraulic actuators designed by Bosch Rexroth. Load changes are sensed by integrated sensors in the building envelope by an innovative control system, which in turn instantly corrects the position of the structure, redistributing the pressure in an optimum way.
The official presentation
According to the developers, the cost of installing SmartShell in each case will be more than offset by the reduced risk of deformation and collapse of engineering structures. The scientists are happy to demonstrate their invention and invite everyone to evaluate its technical qualities for themselves.
Thanks to Bosch Rexroth and the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) for contributions.
