There is an interesting project for the restoration of old frame buildings from the 18th and 19th century. During the restoration, even the old wooden barn is transformed into a cozy and spacious residential building. It is interesting to observe what the old dilapidated structure transforms into when the professionals get down to business.
The Fultonville Barn team presents photos of their finished projects. In general, in the course of their work, they are looking for surviving structures throughout the country, built according to the frame scheme centuries ago, and try to give them a second life – and they succeed.
A simple barn, which were widespread throughout the country in past centuries, is being converted into a spacious house, which has a large common room, even with a playground, and a built-in “guest house”.
The larger the barn was originally, the more spacious it is in the house after restoration. You can add a second floor or a large terrace, leave incredibly high ceilings – make it as spectacular and beautiful as possible.
During the restoration, modern systems, energy-saving complexes are also installed, environmentally friendly materials are used. Yet, ultimately, the emphasis is on maintaining the original design. So the wood preserved in the base is processed and, if necessary, strengthened, but the plaque of time – the appearance of already aged wood – is specially left.
You can talk a lot about the result of the project, but it’s better to just take another look at the photos – an amazing sight.
