Choosing and buying new entrance doors

Today on the market, doors are presented in a wide range. Often, door manufacturers offer to purchase an entrance door together with a frame and locks, which is very convenient. Entrance doors are mostly offered in two standard sizes: eighty and ninety centimeters wide. Therefore, before buying a new entrance door, measure the dimensions of the entrance opening..

Our choice fell on a metal entrance door with MDF coating. This door is completely complete: box, door itself, platbands, peephole and locks.

Dismantling of old entrance doors

The door, which we have to dismantle, led from time to time. It does not hold the porch poorly and cannot provide the proper level of heat and sound insulation.

We begin to dismantle the front door by removing the outer platbands. In this case, they are fixed with self-tapping screws, so we use a screwdriver. Remove the upper platband, then remove the side outer platbands.

After removing the outer platbands, we also dismantle the inner.

Then we remove the old door from its hinges. Why it is necessary to open it and lift it up.

After the front door has been removed from the hinges, remove the door frame.

We begin to dismantle the box from the bottom. Then we remove the side pieces, and finally remove the top bar. To facilitate the dismantling of the old wooden box, in case the bars are difficult to dismantle, it is necessary to saw them and dismantle them in parts, prying them off with a pry bar.

After dismantling the old door frame, we have a clean opening.

Installation of a new front door

First, we prepare a new door. We set it on the level on wooden blocks.

We put the door on them.

We expose the box using a level.

We set the level on both sides.

After the door has been leveled, proceed to its installation. For this we need a hammer drill with a drill for concrete and four anchors.

The door frame has four special holes through which we make holes in the wall with a puncher to a depth equal to the length of the anchor.

Important! After all the holes for the anchor have been made, check everything again with a level.

We insert anchors into the holes. If necessary, we help with a hammer.

We fix the anchors with a screwdriver.

Installation of locks

After the door frame is installed, it’s time to move on to installing the locks.

To do this, we put on the door handles.

Then we take the core and use the key to put it in the “open” position.

We insert the core into the lock and turn the key to the “closed” position.

Using the bolts, we adjust and set the lock, after which we proceed to fixing the handles.

After the new front door and the lock are installed, proceed to the installation of platbands.

Installation of platbands

Install the platbands in the following order:

1. Side trims.
2. Upper casing.

For installation, we need metal screws and a screwdriver.

Platbands installed.

Now we take the plugs and close the anchor holes with them.

We close the self-tapping screws on the platbands with plastic plugs.

We fill the space between the box and the wall with mounting foam around the entire perimeter.

Advice!If during operation the doors make a creak or “go” tight, then in 99% of cases the problem lies in poorly lubricated bearings or a ball in the hinge. To solve this problem, we recommend removing the door from the hinges, lubricating the bearing with machine oil and reassembling everything in the reverse order..
