Execution order
De-energize the tool.
Open the chuck petals completely. Since the fixed part of the body is broken, we hold the spindle of the drill with a 14 key.
We inspect the fixing screw for the integrity of the cross groove.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fixing screw clockwise, since the thread on it is with left-hand thread.
Tip: if the cross groove is partially lapped, you can hit it several times with a screwdriver before unscrewing it, this will allow you to slightly correct the groove.
We hold the spindle with the 14th key, unscrew the faulty chuck counterclockwise.
Holding the spindle with a key, we wind the new chuck clockwise until it stops, holding it by the fixed part, and clamp it with force.
Holding the chuck by the fixed part, tighten the screw with a screwdriver counterclockwise until it stops.
The result of the work done
The entire replacement work took no more than five minutes, and the result was pleasing. The drills are perfectly clamped in the chuck and can be changed quickly and easily. When drilling, the drill does not turn in the chuck and does not hit.
