The design-architecture firm CCS Architecture designed this 5,000-square-foot townhome in Mill Valley, USA, considering the scenic surroundings and stunning scenery. Surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation, the house is the perfect retreat to escape the urban grind and enjoy the delightful décor at the heart of wildlife. The wide windows have been designed to maximize the view and offer a great view over the majestic redwood trees, which are unusually large. And now look here… This is the terrace! The large platform that connects the main part of the house to the more private area is perfect for enjoying the sunrise with a glass of orange juice in hand.
The residence has three distinct levels, each of which is accentuated by the material of the exterior finishes. The walls of the first floor, most of which stands on a mountainside, have a concrete surface, the second has a coating of native copper, while the third is clad in cement plaster. Because the property owner has a particular predilection for the visual arts, a significant amount of ground floor space has been transformed into a painting studio and gallery.
What are some key elements of the design that help create a sense of peacefulness in this three-level home inspired by its natural surroundings?
