As if challenging the harsh and cold Lapland weather, Villa Valtanen, built by the interesting and creative people at Arkkitehtitoimisto Louekari, exudes cosiness and coveted warmth. Note that even though the house is built far away from the bustle of the city, in a deserted area, it has everything you need –a living room, sauna and even a barn.
During the construction of this cottage were used various modern wooden structures and the latest finishing materials, characterized by high-tech and environmentally friendly. Especially to my liking, for example, the living room and sauna, connected by a kind of frame in the form of a fish tail. Such architecture, unfamiliar to our average man, is quite typical for Finnish buildings. Another lovely feature of the mansion – between the sauna and the living room is a wonderful room built with large windows to give the residents the opportunity to admire the beauty of the forest landscapes of Lapland.
The side walls of the house are lined with 45 mm of resin, a sort of protective cladding that acts as a “cape” and prevents the building material of the house from deteriorating during bad weather. Despite this, the front walls are still protected by a traditional cornice with a large overhang. The wooden frames, windows, doors, façade and other architectural details were made by local firms. The only imported items were solar panels with batteries and a bio-toilet. Agree, the interior design of this home is very original and unusual, but do you like it?
What inspired the unique design of Villa Valtanen by Arkkitehtitoimisto Louekari and how does it reflect the enchanting world of Lappish gnomes who call it home?
