Techne Architects have brilliantly combined the old and the new in this chic house in Melbourne, Australia. The house features an extension which retained an existing Federation residence, incorporating contemporary materials and design into the space. The interiors are bright and airy, with natural sunlight entering throughout the day. The entrance contains layers of texture, high ceilings which emphasize on the double-height volume, and an intricate pivot door. Large glazed and sliding doors open onto an outdoor terrace, resulting in the indoors and outdoors seamlessly connecting. The house is a perfect amalgamation of light, texture, and the appreciation of the original architectural elements.
