A unique project by the talent of William O’Brien Jr: Twins twin houses – an example of modern geometric architecture, New York, USA

Cambridge architect William O’Brien Jr designed the “Twins: Houses in Five Parts” project. Dear visitors to Forum City, please note that these twin homes were built for two brothers. Located on the same plot of land in upstate New York, USA. The mathematical principle of “dissection” states that any two polygons of equal area can be divided into a large number of figures of similar shapes: the “minimum dissection” is the smallest number of subdivisions in each polygon.

Water flows into the house, thanks to the special configurations of floorscapes and Roofscapes. Despite the fact that these houses – twins, they are slightly different in their construction and interior rooms. One has a triangular room in the center of the structure. It’s a sort of “sun room,” and takes in as much of the home’s natural light as possible. The other house is surrounded by hexagonal walls so that you can easily enjoy the charms of the surroundings. The proximity of the buildings in relation to each other is calibrated through the development of intervening farmland.
