This amazing Elm & Willow House was designed by Architects EAT in Canterbury, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It has been ingeniously built around a surviving mature elm tree, and incorporates its height and presence into much of the building's spatial geometry and form. Its captivating exteriors are clad in a project-specific weatherboard cladding system, which creates the perception of a smaller and more intimate space, and a warm, inviting feel. The house was designed to take full advantage of the daily sun movement, providing considerable passive solar gain in the winter factored with its deep loggias for shading. It is also equipped with a rooftop terrace which overlooks the trees and provides much-needed outdoor space. Elm & Willow House is a unique, one-of-a-kind affordable housing project that blends in with nature while providing optimal comfort and convenience.
