Antique house with original interior by Labics design studio in the center of Rome, Italy

Labics design studio has transformed a historic house in the center of Rome with its original interior intact. This house is one of a kind and highlights the studio’s ability to rejuvenate a building without compromising its heritage. Its striking design is highlighted with modern and antique elements to create a unique atmosphere that is simultaneously classic and contemporary. The house's central location offers tourists a chance to experience a rare glimpse into Italian culture and history.

Employees of the architectural bureau Labics had to undertake an interesting and challenging project, which intertwined antique and modern styles of interior and architecture. The owners of the house want to preserve the historical image of the house, but bring the usual benefits of civilization into the apartment. The task was very complex. After all, two completely different styles had to be superimposed on each other, not mixing, but complementing each other harmoniously.

The authors of the project used straight lines and regular geometric forms. The materials used were both natural and many different polymers: glass, metal alloys and plastic. Snow-white walls, like a blank sheet of paper, are designed to stimulate the imagination.

Labics design studio is known for their innovative and contemporary approach to architecture, but when it came to renovating this antique house, they took a more sensitive and preservation-focused approach.

In order to preserve the authenticity of the house, Labics decided to keep as much of the original structure and features as possible. They meticulously restored the original wooden beams, stone walls, and intricate detailing, carefully blending it with modern design elements.

Their design approach involved creating a harmonious balance between the old and the new, respecting the history and character of the house while also introducing subtle contemporary touches. They used a neutral color palette and natural materials to complement the existing features, creating a seamless and timeless design.

Labics’ attention to detail and commitment to preserving the integrity of the antique house shines through in their design approach, resulting in a stunning renovation that pays homage to the past while celebrating the present.
