The Boulder Modern Net Zero Home is an innovative, eco-friendly project from HMH Architecture based in Colorado, USA. This project utilizes cutting-edge technology to drastically reduce energy costs by utilizing renewable thermal solutions, such as solar panels and a heat pump air conditioning system. It also features green building materials, recycled surfaces, and an energy-efficient window system. Furthermore, this project offers cost savings for the homeowner, making it an economical and sustainable choice. This is a private home designed by HMH Architecture for two conservationists, one of whom serves the Environmental Protection Agency. From this comes one of the principles of the project – environmental sustainability. The clients’ desire was also to have a home for entertaining, socializing and entertaining. Largest room accommodates kitchen, dining area and study for family companionship and covered porch.
In addition, the couple wanted to be able to house their art collection, but not in a separate gallery, but harmoniously in all the rooms. The windows have been carefully sized and positioned to optimize daylight exposure for the artwork, while at the same time avoiding direct sunlight.
Only environmentally friendly materials were used in construction.
