According to the architects, the highlight of the semi-detached house on the hillside is the asymmetry. Westmount was once an Anglo-Saxon enclave within French Canada. Seen the heyday of local historic styles like Arts and Crafts or Neo-Gothic. Both employ asymmetry and informality, distinguishing them from the more austere forms of French and Italian classicism. And this informality is reflected in the Residence Landsowne project.
Clad in black slate found in the neighborhood, the corner and two-story bay windows are accented with red brick surfaces. The bay window at the back of the bay window and open dining-living room is the center of family life, moving the emphasis from the street to the back of the house and garden.
