Reserved Caldecott Country region with picturesque views of MacRitchie pond is ADLab location. The designers had to take into account the proximity of a busy thoroughfare, which disrupted its soundproofing.
It is not typical for Singapore to have elevated land resulting in a plot of land below street level. The architects took advantage of this unconventional situation to bring most of the utilities down to a settled platform. This shielded them from highway noise and increased privacy and privacy of the stylish interior design.
The designers preserved the shape of the building from the outside, adhering to the topography of the ground as much as possible. Internal spatial expression, stepped roof shape gives the opposite impression. The entrance to the suite, and the climb up from it, produce a sense of expansion that draws the eye to the sky and simultaneously to the secluded central courtyard below.
The undulating, sloping roof is covered in turf and acts as an extension of the green landscape. In some places, it has a curve from the ground to allow light and air currents to pass to the โsunkenโ site.
The next step was to secure privacy, ADLab surrounded the main living areas on all floors with a circular movement of the support areas, which acts as a noise absorbing buffer. Corridors and staircases wrap around the outer edge of the house.
Emphasis is placed on the overall view from the rooms to the hidden patio, as well as creating the drama of oneโs journey through the mansion. โThe Observerโ moves through passageways that at times hide behind rooms and at other times open onto a theatrical balcony: here one views the garden and the entire complex.
The client lives with his parents, so this chain of movable pathways allows residents the flexibility to navigate the structure depending on their social situation and need for privacy. A luxurious pool cools the beautiful patio, along with a series of water features that separate the public areas from each other and bring the water element into the home itself.
This sounds like an incredible project! Iโm curious about the design and layout of the multilevel country house. Could you please provide more details about the architectural design and how the different levels are connected? Additionally, Iโd love to know if there are any unique features or special considerations for the open swimming pool. Thank you!
