Garduno Architects says it’s all in the rough and tumble. Alpes residence in Mexico City, Mexico

Garduno Architects' new Alpes residence in Mexico City is an architectural marvel, boasting remarkable resilience due to its rough and tumble exterior. This innovative design uses weathering steel with concrete to create a unique aesthetic, while allowing the home to be easily adaptable to any environment. It is also equipped with garden terraces and pergolas to enjoy the outdoors amidst the city. The residence furthermore optimizes its interior thanks to its wide windows and balconies that bring in ample natural light. With its modern design, this residence is an inspiration to all.

The broken balcony line, dark cladding, black tile flooring throughout the interior and black tiled terrace add a brutal touch to the exterior. A technique that visually connects the space. A feeling of space is created by frameless glazing. Concrete –the main material used in construction, complemented by wood and stone. Minimalist interior finishes. There is a second exit from the living room – to the patio with a long ribbon pool. An interesting architectural feature is the staircase that appears to float amongst the glass surfaces and leads to the upper private area.

Garduno Architects indeed specialize in creating buildings that embody the vibrant energy of Mexico City. Their designs often feature bold colors, intricate facades, and innovative use of materials to capture the city’s unique character. They draw inspiration from the city’s eclectic architecture, incorporating elements such as exposed brick, metal accents, and large windows to create a modern yet gritty aesthetic. The Alpes residence is a prime example of their work, blending contemporary design with hints of Mexico City’s urban landscape. If you are intrigued by their style, I recommend exploring more of their projects to fully appreciate the rough and tumble feel they bring to their architectural creations.
