Living by the sea is a residence designed by Minarc. This home was completed in 2011 and is located in Malibu, California.
Every house and every place holds memories of past events. The renovation and restoration of the house opens new horizons for thinking and looking. Living by the sea attracts with its tranquility and serenity, its openness to open spaces and the natural ventilation provided by the gentle breeze of the Pacific Ocean. The open plaza in the center of the house gives access to the light and air that permeates the whole building.
The kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining room and balcony are designed so that one wall of the room is a mirror and instead of the opposite wall is an open space. This use of optical illusion gives the impression of infinity of space.
A glass wall behind the kitchen provides a great view of the ocean, while the first floor of the interior has outdoor elements such as ceramic tiles and Grass chairs. The second floor has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and laundry room. The study is also extended with open space, this provides excellent ventilation and a special atmosphere inside.
The house is equipped with LED lighting and underfloor heating system to save energy. No painted surfaces or carpets in the house after the renovation. The renovation client’s main wish was to use construction methods without compromising the design and aesthetics of the finishes.
In the house, walnut and maple serve to heat and unify the rooms, the kitchen is presented in the customer’s favorite color scheme, and the style is accented with recycled glass countertops. As requested by the client, some details remained unchanged after the renovation of the house, allowing to remember the past and create the future. Living by the sea is a simple example of eco-style, it is characterized by functionality and convenience.
