When designing a private dwelling house on a narrow plot, several considerations were taken into account to optimize space usage and meet the owner’s needs. Some specific challenges included ensuring adequate natural light and ventilation, maximizing privacy from neighboring properties, and creating functional living spaces in a limited area.
To address these challenges, the design incorporated features like large windows, skylights, and clerestory windows to bring in natural light and air flow. Privacy was maintained through strategic placement of walls, fences, and landscaping elements. Additionally, multifunctional furniture and built-in storage solutions were utilized to make efficient use of the available space.
To meet the owner’s needs, the limited space was effectively utilized by prioritizing essential living areas and amenities. Open floor plans and high ceilings were used to create a sense of spaciousness, while outdoor spaces like balconies or rooftop gardens added additional living space. Overall, the design focused on maximizing functionality and comfort without compromising on quality of life.
