Tunquen House is a luxurious residence located in Algarobo, Valparaiso, 160 km from Santiago, Chile. The project was designed by architectural firm Nicolás Lipthay Allen / L2C and implemented in 2012. The house sits on a cliff 50 meters high with a breathtaking view of the ocean expanse.
The building was built with the utmost respect for the surrounding wilderness landscape and looks like a stylish frame of the unique landscape. The solid volume of white concrete is divided into three functional areas.
The planners placed the living, dining and kitchen area in the main block, separating the master suite and children’s quarters and guest rooms on opposite sides. Thus, the rooms can be used in two different modes – privately (the owners alone) and when a noisy group of people with children arrives.
The structure is a reinforced concrete “staple” that, together with the outer fence, forms an enclosed space with a fireplace and garden. The ceiling in the interior is decorated with light wood, creating the effect of height and lightness.
What are some of the unique design features that make the Tunquen House stand out as a stylish and minimalist one-story property on the oceanfront?
