Homes in northern California have long since acquired their own recognizable style. We offer the readers of Forum City to get acquainted with the design of the 25th Street Residence by Geremia Design studio, located in San Francisco, USA.
The authors of the project conducted a full-scale reconstruction of a building built in the middle of the last century, preserving the vintage of the postwar architecture.
The elegant mezzanine, furnished with stylish walnut furniture, gives the house a special charm. The designers wanted the traditional 50s layout to be filled with elegant elements devoid of any kitsch. The classic, elegant cover of the residence is given a trendy, inviting content.
The high ceilings, decorated with contrasting moldings, expanded the space and filled the rooms with air and light. The traditional, calm tones of the walls and floor are brought to life through striking details, such as the cozy salmon-colored sofa by the bay window in the mezzanine, or the animal print panel in the living room. The structure of the house seems even more complex because of the casually chaotic mix of paintings and sculptures of different genres used in the decor. These design elements are present in all rooms, not excluding the bathroom.
A special place in the residence’s decoration is given to books, which is quite surprising in the age of digital technology. We can assume that the authors of the project used them not only and not so much for decoration of the laconic shelves and racks. A variety of publications artistically placed in various corners of the space create a special intellectual atmosphere in harmony with the nostalgic look of the building itself. Unique fixtures were designed for each room, each of which unobtrusively accentuates its work area.
The villa is the perfect home for a fast-growing family, and the bright and airy nursery is ready for the arrival of the little one.
